NVIDIA Acquires OmniML to Master Edge AI!

Omni ML

NVIDIA, the AI chip-making giant, is making bold moves in the AI race. In its quest for AI supremacy, the company has been investing in the AI ecosystem and funding startups like Inflection AI, RunwayML, and Cohere.

Now, it has silently acquired OmniML, a startup specializing in shrinking ML models for edge devices. The secret sauce behind model compression seems to have caught NVIDIA's attention, potentially boosting their edge AI capabilities.

What is OmniML?

Founded by industry experts Dr. Di Wu, Dr. Huizi Mao, and Dr. Song Han, OmniML developed Omnimizer—a platform that simplifies AI optimization at scale. Omnimizer streamlines model deployment, training, and measurement into a single platform making it easier to optimize models for edge devices. By including target hardware in testing loops, models become smaller, faster, and better tailored to the specific hardware they run on.

NVIDIA's acquisition of OmniML suggests a strategic move to dominate the edge AI landscape.
